The Louvre - the greatest museum in the world

The Louvre is the world’s most prolific art museum. Located in the heart of Paris, France the Louvre is home to over 100,000 priceless works of art, some of which are Mona Lisa, painted in the 16th century by Leonardo Da Vinci and the statue of Aphrodite sculpted by Alexandros of Antioch in 101 B.C.

The Louvre is a huge art museum with many different sections like Napoleon’s apartments and Tuileries Garden. The museum is like a giant maze of art, it’s very easy to get lost and rumors say that there are secret doors that can bring visitors to a different section of the museum. There is even a food court and some retail outlets and many gift shops. Outside the museum there is a beautiful garden where visitors can enjoy the scenes of Paris and also see some more art.

The art in the museum is breathtaking, especially the Mona Lisa which is by far the most popular piece in the museum; it is covered by a glass wall and roped off along with two of its own staff to protect it from the crowd of people that constantly surround it. Also included in the Louvre are ancient Egyptian sculptures and bricks from temples and monuments. One main part of the museum is Napoleon’s Apartments. These glorious rooms depict the way Napoleon lived. Stock full of priceless paintings, tapestry and jewels, this section is a must see.

The Louvre is not only an art museum but a small shopping mall, complete with an Apple store, Fossil, Lacoste and more gift shops throughout the museum. Visitors can even find a food court. Although expensive there is a wide variety of food to keep you going for the rest of the day. If you ever find yourself in France the Louvre is a must see, it will not disappoint.
