Gene Wilder, or who many may remember as the original Willy Wonka, sadly passed away at the age of 83 on August 29, 2016. The well known actor, down to earth and a easy to work with person. He starred in many big time Hollywood films most notably, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles and his most famous work, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.

Mel Brooks says, ‘‘He blessed everything we did with his magic’’. Brooks also mentioned during an interview that ‘’Wilder was such a wonderful part of my life’’. From that Wilder can be seen as a very great person to be around, at least to Mel Brooks, also a very talented actor and a close friend of him.

However Wilder had a serious problem which had progressively gotten worse with time, although very few knew of this issue before it was too late.

Gene Wilder, over the course of the last few years had been suffering from a severe case of Alzheimer’s Disease. Wilder kept the issue to himself because he didn’t want to harm the image that he had created, he also didn’t want to twist the influences that he had on so many children growing watching his films. Alzheimer’s. Is a disease that you gain with age and time. This disease will affects many parts of your everyday life but the main issues that it provokes is severe memories loss, such as in Wilders case. Wilder suffered from extreme memory loss and also mental deterioration, thus resulting and being the main cause of his death.

Furthermore, this was a very painful and devastating loss for many family members and thousands of Willy Wonka fans around the world, but this event has also raised so much awareness for the disease that affect thousands of elderly people day by day. So even at his death, Wilder is still being to brighten other people’s days up. When it’s not from his iconic movies, it’s from his own personal experiences being used to help others that were and are in his position, may wilder rest in peace and forever live throughout his unforgettable movies.
