“Happy Days” star dies at 56
Erin Moran, who was in many notable sitcoms, Happy Days from 1974-1984, and “Joanie Loves Chachi.” from 1982-1983, died Saturday at 56.
According to authorities in Indiana, they “received a 911 call about an unresponsive female.” Upon the arrival of first responders, it was determined that Erin Moran Fleischmann was deceased.
Moran, a Burbank, California native, began acting in TV and movies before she turned 10. Moran is known, of course, for her role in the 1974 show, “Happy Days” as Joanie Cunningham. The sitcom was set in Milwaukee and soon became a hit. Moran became very popular towards the end of the sitcom and in 1982 she was paired with fellow “Happy Days” star, Scott Baio in the short lived show, “Joanie Loves Chachi.”
Moran’s more recent parts are “The Love Boat” and “Murder, She Wrote.” However, she never approached
the success of “Happy Days” and was featured in the news for her many private struggles.
Late Saturday, Henry Winkler tweeted, “OH Erin… now you will finally have the peace you wanted so badly here on earth… Rest in it serenely now.. Too soon.”
