13 Reasons Why is now getting a second season!

Selena Gomez, who is a singer and actress as well as executive producer of the series along with her mother, Mandy Teefey, announced the return on Sunday with a teaser clip she posted to her Instagram account.

They captioned it with “Their story isn’t over. Season 2 of #13ReasonsWhy is coming.”

13 Reasons Why is a Netflix series based on a popular 2007 young adult novel by Jay Asher. Narrated by teen Hannah Baker, she tells stories about the bullying and trauma she endured, leading up to her suicide.

The series and book show a teenage girl named Hannah Baker, played by Katherine Langford, who leaves behind cassette tapes that explain her suicide, which created a controversy about her placing blame and ruining the lives of the people who the tapes focus on.

While there was only one 13 Reasons Why book, the series co-showrunner Brian Yorkey told the Los Angeles Times prior to the second season announcement that there was more left to tell.

“Hannah’s story isn’t over; she has parents who don’t have the complete story, there’s a rapist who hasn’t been brought to justice and there’s a living survivor of that rapist who is just beginning her journey to recovery.”

Netflix announced that there will be a season two and along with it came an unusual step of releasing some plot details about what to expect.

Posted on Twitter from a iPhone’s note in bullet point form, spoilers reveal 1. We’ll see other’s perspectives on Hannah’s story. 2. Jessica’s story will continue as she tries to recover and return to normal life. 3. There will be a narrator, but it won’t be Hannah – no more tapes. 4. The season will explore “the way we raise boys up into men and the way we treat girls in our culture – and what we could do better in both cases.” 5. Bryce will hopefully get what’s coming to him.
