Democrats and Republicans reach mutual agreement to shoot the American public in the foot instead of each other
Despite the complete stalemate and eventual overturn of the last attempt to replace the Affordable Care Act, the Republicans are trying again and this time the Democrats are trying a new defense strategy: hugging it out.
Despite the massive amount of harm this bill has been projected to cause to 24+ million American citizens including — but not limited to — poor adults, senior citizens, the mentally ill, low-income children, college students, and women as a whole, both parties appear to be pretty pleased with themselves as shown by their after-debate celebration, which, of course, was a keg party because nothing says “America!” quite like men in suits drinking booze and partying after killing the poor.
And while yes the bill has only passed through the House of Representatives as of right now, I’m not too optimistic it will be stopped by Democrats in Congress if they use the same strategy they did in the House.
The passing of this healthcare bill that only benefits citizens with high-income, large corporate employers, and people without pre-existing conditions (meaning cancer, high blood pressure, asthma, Autism, mental illness, drug addiction, AIDs/HIV, arthritis, Diabetes, epilepsy, transexuality, obesity, or being a woman) is not the first time that both parties have worked together to collectively screw over the general public.
Not even two months ago a joint effort to overturn Obama-era Internet privacy laws finally passed in the House of Representatives. There is absolutely no positive outcome from this. The scraping of Internet privacy laws allows for anyone with the means and money to be able to buy the private records your service provider keeps of your browsing history, deleted or not. This means that whatever shred of privacy you might have had left on the Internet has effectively been covered in pitch, lit on fire, and kicked off a cliff.
Rich People: 2, Average US Citizens: 0.
With the rate at which the brave men and women in Washington are working against their own rights, I predict that we may finally see the revoking of women’s right to vote by 2020 and the re-installation of slavery as a valid industry by 2040.
God bless America.
