Pippa Middleton marries James Matthews in England
On Saturday, May 20, 2017, Pippa Middleton, 33 said “I do” to James Matthews, 41, a wealthy financier and former race car driver, at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, England. Pippa Middleton is the younger sister of the future queen of England, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Pippa caught attention back in 2011, when her sister married the royal Prince, William.
Pippa Middleton announced last July that she was engaged to the 40 year old millionaire.
According to the British tabloid Media, Pippa’s wedding was “the wedding of the year.” After the ceremony, there was a reception on the grounds of, Carole and Michael Middleton’s Georgian property near Bucklebury.
Pippa’s gown was a custom made dress by designer Giles Deacon. Pippa, was also wearing something old, which was the same earrings she wore at her sister, Kate’s wedding adding a sentimental touch. To celebrate this eventful day, a glass marquee from Belgium was installed on the Middleton’s grounds.
According to Hello, “Pippa is traditional girl and wanted to marry close to home” and marrying in her hometown was very important to her. Having her big sister Kate, and the her nephew and niece in her wedding, was very important to her as well. According to Town and Country, she wanted her big sister by her side. Kate was taking care of all of the children who were wedding attendants including her daughter, Princess Charlotte who was a bridesmaid, and Prince George who was a page boy.
Her wedding was a low key affair with only 150 reported guests. According to Town and Country, Pippa had a “no ring or no bring” policy. If her guests did not have a fiancé or were married, they could not bring their dates to the church.
Pippa Middleton will eventually gain a new title. Pippa’s father in-law, David Matthews, is currently the Laird of Glen Affric. When he passes away, his son James will take on the title, making Pippa, the Lady of Glen Affric. As of now, she is Mrs. Matthews of Glen Affric.
