Rapper establishes fundraiser to prove the earth is flat
On September 21,2017, rapper Bobby Ray Simmons (B.o.B.) set up a Go Fund Me account to raise funds to launch multiple weather balloons and satellites into space. B.o.B. insists the earth is flat. His conspiracy runs so deep that he donated $1,000 to get the funds going. His goal for the campaign is $1,000,000 to prove non-flat earthers wrong.
Bobby Ray Simmons, known professionally as B.o.B, is a producer, rapper, singer, and songwriter. Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, B.o.B always had a passion for music. He dropped out of school in the 9th grade and landed a record deal. His debut single “Nothin’ on You” hit number 1 in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Now B.o.B seems to be turning his interest elsewhere.
So far his fundraiser is up to $6,045, which was raised by 179 people in 11 days . Though some donations seem to not be unsupportive.
“Here’s $5 to prove yourself wrong,” one donor commented on the Go Fund Me page.
A society called “Flat Earthers” also known as The International Flat Earth Society explains that the earth is not a sphere, but is disk shaped. Flat Earth Societies have been criticized for many centuries; some groups are completely serious, and some are not.
“The facts are simple,” Charles K Johnson, president of the International Flat Earth Research Society says.
“A lot of people are turned off by the phrase ‘flat earth’… but there’s no way you can see all the evidence and not know… grow up,” rapper B.o.B. tweeted
He persisted that if the earth was not flat, that when looking at the horizon, there would be some sort of evidence and distant cities would be hidden from view from the curvature of the earth.
“No matter how high in elevation you are. The horizon is always eye level. Sorry cadets … I didn’t want to believe it either,” he tweeted.
Bobby Ray Simmons is not alone with his conspiracy; he has many followers that believe the same thing.
