CBS executive terminated for Facebook comments in wake of Las Vegas mass shooting
Following the shooting that occurred in Las Vegas during a country music concert on October 1, Hayley Geftman-Gold, Vice President and Senior Legal counsel at CBS, was terminated from her position for posting an ethically controversial post on the social media platform, Facebook.
Her post stated, “I’m actually not even sympathetic because country music fans are often Republicans gun toters.”
Hayley Geftman-Gold, Vice President of CBS was fired, due to the many people offended by this statement.
CBS released the following, “This, individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS.”
Hayley Geftman-Gold was the Executive producer of CBS. She graduated from Columbia Law school. Geftman-Gold before her position at CBS was an Associate at the law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher.Her father is retired as a stockbroker. Geftman-Gold’s husband is president of Handoff Business Ventures.
Geftman-Gold, as well, mentions that “repugs” did not take action when “children” died,
“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that the Repugs will ever do the right thing,” she posted, referring to Sandy Hook.
The series of tweets offended many people.
“The poster girl for ruling-class progressive hatred and condescension toward working-class whites,” commented one journalist Thomas Lifson.
These remarks continued for a long period after Geftman-Gold released these statements.
Along with the other controversial statements made Geftman-Gold as well takes to Facebook to say, “I understand and accept all consequences that my words have incurred.”
