President Trump is released from hospital
As Covid-19 cases continue to rise around the world and with the 2020 election almost here, a lot has been going on in the nation. Recently even bigger things came up when the President of the United States, Donald Trump, declared he tested positive for Covid-19 on October 2nd.
He tweeted that he and the first lady, Melania Trump, began their quarantine in the White House and started their recovery process immediately. Trump got admitted to the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. while the First Lady got treated at the White House. Although they were separated, they both received Covid-19 treatment far different from what most patients receive.
Trump was in the hospital for three days before he was discharged. Research and medical experts say his stay at the hospital was very quick compared to other coronavirus patients.
The three medications he took during his treatment were remdesivir, dexamethasone, and experimental antibody therapy.
“Don’t be afraid of Covid. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!” President Trump tweeted to his millions of followers.
However, many Americans believe that Trump forgot that not many people have access to the same treatment or drugs he received.
Ironically, the antibody therapy treatment Trump received was indeed made from aborted fetuses and he mentions that he is pro-life when it comes to abortions. His administration is also very much against medical research using prenatal tissue from abortions even though he himself took an antibody which was developed with the use of cell line derived from abortion tissue.
“The President might be the only patient on the planet ever to receive this particular combination of medicines,” said Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a professor of medicine at George Washington University.
With his failure to mask up and socially distance, as the CDC guidelines urge in this pandemic, many are not surprised he got exposed to the disease.
“I wasn’t surprised at all when I heard Trump got corona because he was not following any norms or precautions he was told. Corona doesn’t know if you’re the president or somebody else, it is bound to happen if you aren’t restricting yourself from crowds or wearing a mask when you have too, said Harshada Daptardar, a resident from Naugatuck, Connecticut.
President Trump always told the media and the people that he never saw the point of using masks.
“I don’t think I’m going to be doing it,” he said back then. “Wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens – I just don’t see it.”
Now, after testing positive, President Trump was seen wearing a mask for the first time after his return to the White House. But even then he decided to give his supporters a symbol of strength by immediately ripping off his mask in front of everyone who was watching him on television, despite the warnings of him being very contagious.
Just because President Trump was released on October 5th, doesn’t mean his body has fully recovered. He can be very contagious and still affect the people around him if they stand closer than six feet. Many patients who have been released from the hospital have actually worsened over time, which could happen to the President as well.
As for debates, the Commission, a non-partisan group, did decide to cancel the second presidential debate, which was suppose to happen on October 15th, for the health and safety reasons of both candidates. Instead, they thought of having the debate virtual, however, the Trump administration immediately refused.
In consideration of the President’s opinion, the second debate did get cancelled and it is now official the final debate will happen on October 22nd. The CPD have already started their preparations for that.
President Trump announced on October 12th that he has tested negative on consecutive days so his health is doing much better now. For now we are relieved that the President is feeling better and hope he continues to wear a mask to keep improving his health and prevent getting corona again.
