Raising awareness
The Excel Club, a community service organization at Naugatuck high school, is a club that stands for prevention of child abuse. The club has done several events in the past that have been true benefits to abused children. Run by Ms. Dinkle, the club aspires to help those most in need in the community.
One project the club has done is collecting children’s books that would later be brought to My Sister’s Place, a consignment shop who donate their proceeds to women and children who have been displaced due to family violence.
The most recent project the Excel Club has done is the pinwheel garden. Students from the Excel Club had made the pinwheels themselves; they then went around to students and staff the high school and sold the pinwheels for charity. The pinwheels that were sold have been put out on display in a “Pinwheel Garden” for the entire school to enjoy. The pinwheels represent children and families affected by child abuse. The pinwheels express the school’s support for abused children.
If you are interested in becoming involved in the Excel Club, see Ms. Dinkle in her office in S182.
I'm a senior at Naugy, and I work at Dunkin Donuts.

I’ve seen these vibrant blue pinwheels outside my window, but I didn’t know what they were for! What a great cause and they really spruce up the color in the courtyard as well. Great work Excel Club and Ms. Dinkle!
