New deodorant challenge causes severe burns

A 15 year old girl in England was left with horrific second-degree burns after the latest new school “challenge” that many kids are foolishly taking part in.

The 15 year old, Ellie Prescott, sprayed her arm with deodorant for as long as possible, causing the burns. Her mother Jamie Prescott said she may need a skin graft.

Ellie described her injuries to Fox News as “really painful.”

“It’s a hole in my arm and there’s all this liquid coming out. My friend did it a year ago and has a scar, but said it wasn’t as painful as mine. When I show people my injury they lift up their sleeves and show that they’ve all done it too.”

After this incident, her mother chose to send her to a new school.  She transferred from Chipping Sodbury School to Bristol Technology and Engineering Academy. However, she then told her mom that the challenge is prevalent at both schools.

On Friday, May 4th, to warn other parents about this challenge, Prescot posted pictures of Ellie’s arm on Facebook and told them to show their kids what happened.

Hopefully this will make them think twice about possibly taking part in the challenge.

Even if we can prevent just one more child from going through this, it will be worth it,” Prescott said. “I absolutely hate being in the limelight and writing public posts and having attention, but in this particular instance this challenge really needs to be made as public as possible. It’s just horrendous and needs stopping.”
