West hints at a new album

Chicago superstar, Kanye West teased the unexpected release of the sequel to Watch the Throne, a popular joint project of his with Jay-Z from early August 2011.

He simply tweeted: “throne2 coming soon.”

The original album set the iTunes record for most one week record sales at over 290,000 sold and streamed.

Watch the Throne debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and was a huge success in boosting both rappers’ careers.

According to Huffington Post journalist, Kia Makarechi, in his review of the album ,“New Day” feels honest in a way only West and Jay-Z can be in mainstream Hip-Hop.”

The big hit on Watch The Throne was “Otis” featuring Jay-Z and Otis Redding. It included an amazing sample of Otis Redding’s “ Try A Little Tenderness” slowed down and chopped up.This song in itself reminded everyone why Kanye is considered one of the best producers of all time.

“H.A.M” peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. The track was added as a bonus on the deluxe version of the album. However Kanye did release this in January, months  before the release of the album in August. This built up a lot of anticipation for the album release and definitely contributed to the albums success.

“He’s dropped a lot of music this year and another album might be too much. However I will definitely listen to it!” said Cameron Diaz, a senior at Naugatuck High School

In the several years after the album’s release West and Jay-Z have become two of hip hop’s biggest rivals. During Kanye’s 2016 “Saint Pablo Tour” he stopped his entire performance to rant about how Jay-Z’s streaming service, Tidal, made it impossible for him to be on Drake’s hit single “Pop Style”.

Jay-Z has never responded to the comments or tweets regarding the album and his label made no comments when asked by Rolling Stone.

As of now it’s still very unclear when and even if Watch The Throne 2 is going to be released
