Kaiden Lee-Welch found dead after Hurricane Florence

During Hurricane Florence in North Carolina a one-year-old boy, Kaiden Lee-Welch,  was recently taken by the violent waters and was later found dead on Monday, September 17, 2018. He was in his mother’s arms when the waters overpowered her.

Kaiden Lee-Welch went missing after he was taken by the rush of floods on the highway driving east to Wadesboro with his mother.

When the water crashed her car into a tree, Dazia Lee, Kaiden’s mother, managed to get herself and Kaiden out but lost grip of his car seat and that’s when Kaiden went missing.

The rest of the night, into the early morning, they had search teams, rescue teams, and families out looking for Kaiden. When they found his body, he was fifteen feet underneath the water.

All Lee ever wanted to be was a good mom, and she never anticipated on becoming a mother so soon, when she found out she was going to have Kaiden in her senior year of high school, she made it her priority to raise, protect, and take care of him.

“I protected him from everything and everybody,” Lee said according to the Washington Post.

So far there have been forty two deaths resulting from Hurricane Florence. It’s been classified as a category one storm and to have 90 mph winds and rain totals up to 40 inches.

President Trump arrived to help with the costs of Hurricane Florence by adding extra costs to help rebuild after.
