Serial killer caught and arrested after killing four

Ex-U.S. Border Patrol Agent Juan David Ortiz was arrested this weekend and will remain behind bars after confessing to the killings of four prostitutes and assaulting a fifth.

The 35 year old U.S. Navy vet was caught at a gas station 160 miles southwest of San Antonio. He confessed that he killed the four women named Ramirez, Claudine Ann Luera, and Humberto Ortiz all between September 3rd and the 15th. The 4th victim, a Jane Doe, has not been identified. All four murders were a headshot from a pistol.

Ortiz was going to have his 5th victim of murder. The fifth victims name is Erika Pena and if it wasn’t for this women’s quick thinking, she would just be another statistic.

“Ortiz was not on duty and wore civilian clothes during the killings,” Webb County Sheriff, Federico Garza said.

Pena and Ortiz were in his truck, when he pulled out that same pistol on her he had used during the other murders. When she tried to escape he grabbed her by the shirt but it was torn off as she pulled away. She then ran to a nearby gas station and found a state trooper and gave the officer the exact description of Ortiz.

Criminal action by our employees is not, and will not be tolerated,” said Andrew Meehan, the US Customs and Border Protection spokesperson.

The prosecutor has identified Ortiz as a serial killer. He was charged with 4 counts of 1st degree murders, and 1 count of aggravated assault and 1 count of unlawful restraint. He is currently being held on a 2.5 million dollar bond.
