Oklahoma woman acts as a stand-in mom at same-sex weddings

“If you need a mom to attend your same sex wedding because your biological mom wont, call me. I’m there,” she had posted.

A mother from Oklahoma, Sarah Cunningham, advertised her services as a stand-in mom at same-sex weddings.. Not thinking that the post would be taken as far as it did, she is now a viral stand-in mom.

“I’m a woman of faith … We live in a conservative town,” Cunningham said. “It sounds bad to say it, but I felt like I had to choose between my child and faith. I was under this impression it was the ultimate offense.”

Cunningham says one of her sons, Parker, came out as gay when he was twenty-one and she admits it was tough for her to be okay with at first.

According to CBS, Cunningham has been involved in the LGBT community for years now. When her son first came out, she turned to a private Facebook group with mothers who have been going through the same thing. She said that it completely changed her life.

Her first interaction with the community was in 2014 when she went to the pride parade with her husband. She said I was so alienated from my own ignorance…and I realized it was a beautiful community.

“People need hope I sure do and we need to be that for each other in any way, shape, or form, she said. Hope never disappoints.”

Now Sarah Cunningham runs her own Facebook page for mothers, it help give advice to mothers and educates them. She said over 3,000 people have joined it.
