On August 30th at the 2015 VMAs at the Microsoft Theater Kanye West won the award for the Best Music Video and during an acceptance speech, he surprisingly announced that he was running for president in 2020. This was the pinnacle of his speech about his changing attitude.

“I don’t know what I gonna lose after this. It don’t matter, though; It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth,” West said. “And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

And although Kanye thought that this wouldn’t come off as a surprise, the audience was definitely in shock. Many think Kanye West is the last person to run for president. Even Donald Trump, Republican favorite, had something to say. “He’s actually a different kind of person think,” “He’s a nice guy. I hope to run against him someday,” said Trump to ABC News.

Kanye West is known for being a very self-confident person and at times very rude to the press. Some are saying that this announcement is just a popularity stunt, but others actually believe that he will be in office in 2020.
