The despair of a future voter

Today’s politics are filled with drama and constant conflicts among the presidential candidates, but recently it’s been getting a little out of hand and just simply unprofessional. The most recent example of this has been between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

The arguments between these men are not even related to government and the two candidates are making uncalled for comments to each other; they have even resorted to calling each others’ wives disparaging names on national television based off of their physical appearance and past endeavors. But what they should really be talking is about what they would do if they won the election and the actions they would take once taking office.

Trump attacked Cruz’s wife, Heidi Cruz; he did this by posting a picture on social media  comparing his wife, Melania Trump, to Ted Cruz’s wife. This was an obvious attempt by Trump to embarrass and hurt Ted Cruz, who did indeed take it very personally and was very offended too; the reason behind this was simply to say that he would be a better president because he thought that his wife was more attractive, or just to call out his wife out on her appearance; this was simply uncalled for and childish on his part.

Cruz is also the type not to back down from a fight; he says that ‘’I don’t get mad very often, but when you bring my wife up it crosses the line, donald trump you are a sniveling coward, stay away from me and my family’’. But the irony of this situation is that they were supporting each other during the few first few debates. This, however, this took a turn for the worst. Now it has reached the point to where they are just calling each other out on completely unrelated and immature topics other than politics, but instead they’re making a joke of themselves and this presidential campaign.

Trump has been known to cause an argument or two due to his aggressive attitude during the Republican debates causing him to be given the nickname ‘’Mr.Savage’’ by the New York Times. During the debates he has been known to make very rude comments about the other candidates sometime completely off topic, like the time he called out Carly Fiorina for being what he says, ‘’ugly’’.

From the perspective of a future voter, I am awfully disappointed by the actions of these potential leaders of my country.  When I look to see who I would trust my future to, it is sad to say that they are very few being offered in this race. Hopefully they will come to realize that their actions aren’t helping anyone and be able to reflective on each other’s immature behaviors and start to act and take this president campaign more seriously and handle things professionally.
