On September 16th, 2016 a 9 yr. old boy took his own life by hanging himself after months of bullying by his peers at Sophia Soak Creek Elementary School.  The boy , Jackson Grubb, even made a clubhouse in his yard hoping to make friends but the bullying continued.

According to the Raleigh County Sheriff and the police that were on the scene, the young boys sister found him after he hung himself with a belt.

Today the world we live in bullying only gets worse day by day . There are many kids just like Jackson who try or have attempted suicide. Approximately 160,000 kids skip school each day because of bullying and over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year and on average there are 117 suicides per day .

The number of kids just being bullied everyday is inexcusable.. There is 1 suicide for every 25 attempted suicides. 65,000 kids between the ages of 10-14  commit suicide every year. There are two times as many deaths due to suicide than HIV/AIDS.

Bullies have found a new way to target their victims, through social media. The kid doesnt see who is behind the screen which is frightening. 14.8% high school students reported being bullied over the internet. 90% of the kids who reported being bullied over the internet have also been reported being bullied offline.

Some kids reported being bullied because of their disabilities. 40% of kids with Autism and 60% of children with 60% with Asperger’s Syndrome reported being bullied and according to unitedway river cities in West Virginia  23.5% Bullied on school property.

In a recent NHS, survey. 65% of the kids think that bullying cannot change, probably because of what the damage has already done. One student wrote,“technology is only getting stronger and the kids are getting meaner.” According to the washington post ..“Please stop bullying,” Jackson Grubb’s sister wrote hours later on Facebook. “I just lost my brother jackson … he hung himself … keep me in ur prayers … thanks for all the support to.”  bullying doesn’t only affect the victim , bullying doesn’t only impact one life. Bullying affects everyone even if they aren’t the ones getting bullied.
