New allegations made against Kavanaugh
On Saturday September 14, 2019 an article was released by two New York Times writers concerning new charges of sexual assault against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanuagh since being confirmed for a lifelong seat on the bench.
Along with releasing an opinion piece about the new allegations, Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly wrote a book titled The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation, which brings to light the claims of many of Kavanaugh’s potential victims.
After being informed by former Yale classmate Max Stier, a new piece of evidence was developed exposing a different alleged case of sexual misconduct. Stier anonymously wanted to inform the FBI as well as senators that he recalled being at a “drunken dorm party, where friends pushed [Kavanaugh’s] penis into the hand of a female student.”
The Supreme Court justice strongly denied previous allegations about sexually assaulting women such as Christine Ford and Deborah Ramirez when Kavanaugh was still a nominee. Ford accused him of rape.
Ford alleged that she attended highschool with Kavanaugh and Mark Judge. Kavanaugh allegedly sexually assaulted her while she was heading to the bathroom, claiming that nominee, Kavanaugh attemped to rape her while he was inebriated.
At Kavanaugh’s trial, Ford testified saying, “I believed he was going to rape me. I tried to yell for help. When I did, he put his hand over my mouth.”
Trump nominated Kavanaugh in July of 2018 and consistently battled to protect the judge’s reputation.
This Sunday Trump tweeted that people “should start suing people for libel, or the Justice Department should come to his rescue.”
The public took to Twitter to voice their opinions referring to this case as, ”disgusting and inappropriate behavior.”
Others come to the defense of the Supreme Court Justice. They feel these allegations are a “disgusting smear on an innocent man and family.”
Democratic Representatives, such as Senator Kamala Harris, are pushing for a formal impeachment inquiry into the cases of misconduct against Kavanaugh, referring to his seat on the Supreme Court as a “national travesty.” The calls for impeachment put the Democrats in an effective state of mind. The beliefs are that Kavanaugh lied about the incidents in his testimony before the Congress.
