The ‘Hounds begin their season…
In their first game in their renovated gymnasium, the Naugatuck volleyball team lost their season opener to Woodland Regional High School in a nail biting match. The ‘Hounds took the Hawks a brutal five sets, but it was Woodland who left with the win.
Junior Olivia Rotatori made a statement to the Hawks with a total eight kills and six blocks. Behind her was senior Kathryn Healy, with four aces, four kills, and two blocks, and junior Taylor Hyde got three kills of her own. Senior captains Alexa Blazas, Jenna Massicotte, and Ally Mezzo each contributed several aces for the team.
Although the Greyhounds fought hard, the Hawks put up a strong offensive play throughout the game. Naugy may have left empty handed, but now they only look forward to the rest of the season even more.
I am a Naugy senior, and on the Naugatuck High School volleyball team. I enjoy writing stories about current events going on within our school.
