Bittersweet Senior Year

Bittersweet+Senior+Year

It is bittersweet.  Now as seniors, we have many emotions about leaving high school next year.

Before we know it, we’ll be going our separate ways and high school will be a memory.  However, there were many things about high school that we will take with us for the rest of our lives.

Academically, we both agree that the beginning two years of our high school career were the most difficult, but as the years progressed we were able to adapt to the workload and better manage our time.

We both have found one or two teachers that have really helped us throughout our high school careers.  These teachers have been  constants to us, and were there to help whenever we needed assistance either academically, or personally.

Although academics are a huge part of high school, the social aspect and personal growth throughout all four years are also very important.  We have experienced a drastic change in our friend groups.  We have grown to appreciate the fact that having fewer friends is not such a bad thing.  It is better to have a handful of friends who you can rely on and confide in, rather than a large group filled with drama.

We have also realized that we have become much more mature since our freshman year.  We have come to value our education much more than we used to, and realize that without hard work and effort, you cannot succeed.

One of the regrets that both of us share is not joining more clubs and being involved in more activities within the school.  We have been involved in various events here and there, but neither of us were involved in a single club throughout all four years.

Taking part in school activities, sports, and clubs is definitely another huge part of high school and helps to enhance the experience as a whole.  Some of the best memories and experiences emerge from taking part in these types of activities from what we have seen, and if we could go back, we would have made it a point to join more activities.

The renovation also impacted our high school experience quite a bit.  At times it was very hard to navigate through the school due to closed hallways and stairwells.  There were also many instances where the conditions in the building were very unpleasant to be subject to all day such as lack of heat in the winter and constant drilling while we were trying to learn.  The renovation also took away from our experience by preventing us from having annual events such as Mr. Greyhound and Rip the Runway.  We agree the school looks very nice now that the renovation is nearing completion, but we wish it did not take away so much from our four years here.

Although high school has been full of ups and downs, we will both miss it.  However, we are ready to begin the next chapter in our lives and are anxious to see what the future has in store for us.

We both wish nothing but the best for everyone graduating this year.  Hopefully you all achieve your goals and ambitions.  See you at the ten year reunion!
