After years of treatment Leah Still, daughter of professional football player Devon Still, has finally defeated cancer. Devon broke the wonderful news to the world by posting messages on both Instagram and Twitter.

Leah was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at age four. Neroblastoma is a rare disease that develops from immature nerve cells found in several areas of the body and affects children under the age of five.  Even with a 50-50 chance of survival, Leah kept fighting to beat the odds.

Throughout her battle with cancer Leah has been an inspiration to many, including her father. Devon Still is a professional football player currently on the Houston Texans roster. At the time his daughter Leah was diagnosed with cancer, Devon was in danger of not making the Cincinnati Bengals roster. Leah inspired her father to push himself, and with enough hard work, Devon was able to make the team and earn a paycheck to support his daughter throughout her battle with this deadly disease.

In October of 2014, Devon Still, the Bengals, and the NFL teamed up to support Leah and every other child battling cancer. Every Devon Still jersey that was sold, the proceeds would go to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and pediatric cancer research. A total of 14,945 jerseys were sold. Leah and Devon Still gained a lot of support throughout their journey, which made the fight with cancer easier for them.

It has been an interesting experience for Leah this past year. While no one wants to go through what this poor girl went through, her supporters made her feel comfortable with her battle. During her fight, Leah walked the runway during Fashion Week, wrote a children’s book with her father, got her own Wheaties box cover, and won an ESPY award for courage. Most notably, she was able to hang out with one of her favorite athletes, Lebron James.

Leah’s fight has thankfully come to an end, but Devon and Leah Still are not finished with their fight against cancer. The two started the Still Strong Foundation to support childhood cancer research and to help families in need who have children with cancer.

Devon Still signed a contract with the Houston Texans on January 6th. His journey in the NFL would not be possible without his daughter. Leah is a major inspiration to her father and many people in the world. She continues to inspire people today as she encourages cancer patients to keep fighting.
