Manchester United adopts a policy of using sustainable uniforms

Manchester United is a well known club around the world by many, even if they don’t play soccer people know of Manchester United. So it may surprise you that their new uniform is made of trash.

Even though this move didn’t cut spending down but rather, it does bring attention to the growing environmental issue.

The clubs new third kit- for games where the regular home or away uniforms are unsuitable to do trash colors in. Manchester United uses the materials created from plastic collected from the shorelines and sea to create the new uniform. The materials can include everything from consumer products to discarded fishing gear.

According to Digitaltrends.com, “Adidas says it’s committed to phasing out the use of virgin plastics in it’s sportswear, choosing instead to use materials created from recycled plastics.”

The design of  Manchester United’s kit is inspired by the 50th anniversary of its first-ever European Cup win. It comes with the navy blue top, which is reminiscent of the outfits worn by the United players in the team’s 1968 victory over Portuguese Benfica Slb.

But, in the world of soccer, rival clubs of Manchester United will now be happily describing the team’s trashed-infused strip as befitting of a club that failed to pick up a title this season.

So in the world of soccer disregarding the actual meaning of the kit, everyone will be making fun of Man United for making their new unifor out of what their made of.

“We all need to change the way we think and act toward our oceans. By working with Manchester United… we hope that we can highlight the issue of plastic damaging our oceans, and ultimately encourage and inspire football fans to join us in creating a better environment for everyone,” stated Adidas category product director Oliver Nicklisch pointed out.

Manchester United director Richard Arnold said that Adidas “continue to demonstrate how forward-thinking they are with its strategic partnership with parley.”

“We are all acutely aware of the threat of plastic to the environment and we are delighted to be able to raise further awareness with this recycled kit, which i am sure the fans love.”

Manchester United players will throw on the uniform for the first time during the team’s tour of the U.S. this summer.
