Local man engaged in battle between his depressive lethargy and his consuming need to feel productive

LIVING ROOM COUCH — Since the start of Spring Break local resident Jess Townley has been engaged in a raging battle between his debilitating clinical depression and his strong need to feel productive.

The grueling conflict started on Friday when Townley got home from school and reportedly sat down on his couch.

“Yeah I was just kinda… feeling really tired when I got home but there was this thing I felt like I needed to do so I got up to do it but then I didn’t feel like doing it anymore so I sat down again,” Townley said in an interview.

Mr. Townley described having sudden spurts of motivation and energy followed by long periods of lethargy and fatigue as he stared longingly at his cellphone that was ringing on a nearby coffee table.

This is not the first time something like this has happened, according to Townley, which makes sense because this is not at all uncommon in college students. As a matter of fact, 40.5% of college students report feeling “too depressed to function” yearly.

“Yeah… I think the last time I felt like this was… last summer vacation. It was during the first week of…” Townley said before falling asleep mid-interview.

There will be more updates on this story as it develops.
