Not all its cracked up to be

*DISCLAIMER- this article may contain spoilers to the movie.

On March 25th, Batman Vs Superman hit the big screen. The public had big expectations for this film, considering  the huge success of The Dark Knight series. This new spin on the DC universe was expected to be great, with Ben Affleck as the new Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman and the introduction of the Justice League.

However, this movie has many mixed reviews;  many agree that it had a confusing point of view and was over hyped. The film had a run time of 2 hours and 33 minutes, and within that time the movie did not focus on “the feud of god and man,” which was highly anticipated instead it focused on antagonist Lex Luthor, played by Jesse Eisenberg.

Lex Luthor is a super genius, psychotic, millionaire who wants to watch the world burn because of his rough childhood. He is Superman’s arch nemesis and in the movie he also fights against Batman.

Superman, or his alter ego Kent Clark, is a Kryptonian from the planet Krypton. The vastly different environment on Earth lets him have extraordinary powers. When he was young his planet was destroyed so he was sent to Earth where a small farm couple took him in as their own. He spends his adult days fighting crime and saving Metropolis.

Batman, or his alter ego Bruce Wayne, is an entrepreneur. His parents were murdered when he was young so his family’s butler Alfred Pennyworth took him in and raised him. Bruce inherited his parents fortune and used some of the money to develop weapons and technology to fight crime in Gotham as a vigilante.

In the movie the people of Metropolis look at Superman as someone who causes too much destruction to the city. Batman wants to take down Superman to keep the city safe. Lex has given Superman a choice, have his mother killed or kill Batman. Lex knows each of the goals for the superhero and turns them against each other by manipulating them in different ways. All while this is happening Lex is creating a super villain alien called Dooms Day whose sole purpose is to kill superman.

It was not a bad movie, just a little disappointing to the fans of the comics. Both actors put on an amazing show and played their characters the best they could.
